Welcome to the Elsfield Village web site
Elsfield, a tiny village near Oxford. It has a church that was rebuilt in the 13th century, restored in Victorian times and retains its Jacobean pulpit. The Manor at Elsfield was the home of John Buchan from 1919 to 1935.
Elsfield is mentioned in the Domesday book. Esefelde, later Elsefeld means "Open land of a man called Elesa".
